That pesky ol’ security deposit! The laws can be confusing, and if you live in a rent controlled property (aka RSO), the laws are actually slightly different! For instance, the Rent Stabilization Ordinance requires the payment of interest on security deposits for tenants in RSO properties. So have no fear, the Los Angeles Housing and Community Investment Department (or HCIDLA, for less of a mouthful!) is here to answer all your questions. Specifically, on Tuesday, December 10th at 2pm, you can attend a FREE information session that is all about security deposits at their Downtown Office. But hurry, seating is limited. Don’t let your hard-earned $$, money that may be rightfully yours, slip out of your hands just because you are not up to speed on the laws.
