These Are a Few of My Favorite Things: Venice

Venice Beach is what comes of losing a coin flip. Way back in the day (the 1890s kind of day) developer Abbot Kinney split some beach front property with his partner. The flipped a coin and he got the southern marshy portion, drained it and created canals after the original (and soon to be extinct) Venice, Italy.  With it’s seaside-arcade-meets-sophistocated-boutique atmosphere, today Venice is one of the most iconic of all LA neighborhoods. Not surprisingly, there is a lot of demand when it come to homes for rent in Venice, so we asked The Rental Girl’s leasing agent Julie to name a few of her favorite things about this beachside haven:

  1. The Beach! Sighting dolphins jumping in the surf and watching both the sunrise and sunsets (sounds corny but so beautiful!).
  2. The Boardwalk! People-watching where people compete to be watched.
  3. The beach Bike Path from Washington Pier to Santa Monica Pier and beyond.
  4. Abbot Kinney gift kitsch shopping and eats!
  5. The gorgeous canals and amazing homes lining them. How can we still be in L.A.?
  6. The Lincoln/Rose Whole Foods, a social microcosm worthy of a graduate program sociology study, and a great place to lunch.

When moving from out of town, it can be very difficult trying to decide which neighborhood in Los Angeles to move to. “These Are a Few of My Favorite Things” is one series of blog posts brought to you by leasing agents at The Rental Girl to help educate you on the variety of colorful neighborhoods Los Angeles has to offer.
