The Rental Girl Presents: Agent Spotlight

The Rental Girl Presents: Agent Spotlight

Wanna move to where the sun always shines and the water’s always warm? Consider getting to know our Westside agent, Julie! ?

Tell us a little bit about yourself!

I was in advertising for many years but always had an interest in real estate. Eventually, my boyfriend (now husband!) got tired of me dragging him to open houses for fun on the weekends (he wanted his weekends back) and suggested a career in real estate. The minute he suggested it, it felt right and I immediately knew there was only one brokerage option for me, The Rental Girl! I had been a fan for years. I emailed one of the agents that day, and the rest is history!

What’s your favorite aspect of being a realtor?

Finding a perfect match between tenants and landlords. I also love seeing all the unique Los Angeles properties out there!

What is something that most people don’t know about you?

I, along with with my 160-person choir, was a semi-finalist on America’s Got Talent last season! I love to sing and was trained in Classical Voice in college.

What’s your all-time favorite spot in your territory?

It’s SO hard to pick but right now I am LOVING the new restaurant Simonette. It is an indoor/outdoor adorable spot, inside the equally delightful Culver Palihotel. Also, the Proud Bird by LAX which was recently converted into a modern food hall and bar where you can watch commercial jets take off and land at close range (through a wall of windows or on a patio with fire pits!) while sipping your Sauvignon Blanc.

How would you describe your neighborhood/territory?

Simultaneously laid back yet put together. Not too pretentious. You can go from beach casual Venice boardwalk beers to elegant/hip Abbot Kinney eateries in moments.

If your neighborhood was on a dating app, who would be the perfect match to move into the hood?

A Silicon Beach professional who needs easy access to LAX for travel, and the beach, and who made it to the top of their game by the age of 25, so can afford a spendy 1 bedroom on this side of town.

How long have you lived in LA?

My whole life. Originally from the Valley (Reseda/Tarzana/Calabasas), I then lived in Malibu, Sherman Oaks, Hollywood, Culver City and now loving life in Palms!

What’s your biggest piece of advice for someone interested in applying to a property you’re leasing?

Be true to your word. It’s good general advice in life – and certainly also applies to renting in general. If you show up to the showing on time, send us your application when you say you will, all these things matter to landlords – it’s a good predictor of how you will be as a tenant, and we do pass that along to the landlord – Help us impress the landlord for you by being prompt and courteous!?

What’s the most quintessential LA thing about your neighborhood?   Best cliche activity?

Heading down to the Santa Monica pier and then grabbing a drink/bite on Third Street Promenade.

What’s the most hidden Westside activity/spot/whatever that you really are hesitant to let us know about?

Mayura in Palms! They have the best dosa! (Which for the uninitiated is like a South Indian version of a savory, crispier crepe!)

What’s your pick? Fave food/restaurant ETC?

I love Sawtelle with its many Asian cuisines and shops. Try HoneyMee for a sweet creamy treat! There is also an amazing private room karaoke spot on Sawtelle called Max Karaoke.

Best way to spend a Sunday morning/afternoon?

A kombucha flight at Sage Vegan Bistro on their patio, or a Bloody Mary at Salt Restaurant in Marina Del Rey, watching the boats from their patio! Anything with a patio, really. 😉

Which historical Westside landmark is your favorite?

The Culver Hotel. Hands down! Gotta love the history and the 1920s vibe.

Best way to get around the neighborhood?

The Bird Scooters are a’plenty and will take you where you need to go once you hop off the Metro Expo line (which takes you from Culver all the way to the ocean in Santa Monica!).

What’s on your LA Bucket List this year?

Going hang gliding over the coast/ocean!

  1. Julie - May 6, 2019

    Hi Julie,

I am currently a tenant in Sunset Beach and we have to relocate to Texas for my husband family.
I have 6 months left on my lease. The owner is very nice and will allow me to break the lease if I can find a tenant. No sub-lease, they will a brand new 12 month lease with the found tenant.

If I don’t find one I have to pay the reminder rent.

She was helpful and put adds on westside rentals, and all other platforms. I did put one on Craigslist and signs on the outside.

I have not received many visitors so far. She is not dealing with a realtor and she will not.

How can I personally use your services to find a tenant to replace me Asap?
