The Rental Girl Presents: Agent Spotlight

Having serious FOMO on all things Silver Lake/Echo Park? Meet our Silver Lake and Echo Park Agent Victory! She is here to give you all the scoop on the neighborhood.

Tell me a little bit about yourself? Where are you from? What do you like? What brought you to TRG?

I’m from Detroit originally, lived in Chicago and Brooklyn before landing in LA in 2013. After 7 years as a hairstylist I was ready for a new challenge and had thought of being a real estate agent since I was young. Shortly after I completed my real estate classes, I rented a house in Frogtown from Ellie who used to be the agent representing Los Feliz, Silver Lake and Atwater Village. It was a right time, right place situation when I reached out to Ellie to pick her brain about emerging into the industry as a new agent and discovered that she was looking to hire a new assistant to train and replace her.

What is your favorite part about being an agent?

I love being on the go and meeting new people everyday.

What is one of your guilty pleasures?

Boba tea, I’m addicted. Hey Hey Drinks in Echo Park and Pine & Crane in Silver Lake can satisfy my caffeine fix and sugar tooth between showings.

What is your favorite restaurant or place to eat in your rental neighborhood?

Sage Organic Vegan Bistro in Echo Park was a fast favorite when I moved to LA as a vegetarian. I’m no longer a vegetarian, yet their food is so good that anyone can enjoy it!

What is a hidden/undiscovered attraction or eatery in your neighborhood?

There is a great new coffee shop on Glendale Blvd south of the 101 in the Historic Filipinotown area of Echo Park called Laveta. There has been a lot of new development happening in this area over the past couple of years and as a result we are starting to see some new businesses popping up to meet the needs of the growing neighborhood. They make a great matcha latte there!

What travel location is on your bucket list to visit in the next year?

Travel is a bit tricky right now with our 4 month old at home. However, my fiance and I might make a weekend trip up to Santa Barbara to scout out a possible wedding location.

What is the most quintessential LA thing about your neighborhood?

For Echo Park, it’s definitely Dodger Stadium! Game day traffic on Sunset is no laughing matter but if you love baseball and live in the neighborhood you might even have a great view of those Friday night fireworks from your house. Silver Lake would have to be the Reservoir.

What is your favorite thing to do, unrelated to eating, in your neighborhood? Bar? Boutique? Exercise spot?

When I need some R&R, a massage at The Raven Spa on Rowena never disappoints. After a couple stellar prenatal massages with Chai and his magic hands, I likely won’t book with anyone else again!

What is your favorite way to spend your weekends?

Lately I’ve been looking forward to spending time with other Gracefull momma’s! That is, other moms from the community that also birthed at Gracefull Birth Center on Sunset in Silver Lake. We meet at the center, in the meadow, Elysian Park and other various spots around the neighborhood to catch up and connect about all things life and babies.
